Join us for a day of exciting speakers, workshops, and networking with activists and community leaders from across Vermont and New England, as we work to mobilize the grassroots to create healthy communities.

MRNA is honored to be co-sponsoring this annual event for the sixth time. We will be participating in the panel conducting a permitting workshop. We have two paid entry tickets and additional discounted tickets available to our members. Childcare available; you must pre-register childcare needs.   • Quilt Benefit Auction - September 26 - Moretown Town Hall - 10:00 a.m.

    Come to the Live Auction Quilt Benefit
    Moretown Town Hall.
    Preview is at 10:00 a.m., and auction starts at 11:00 a.m.

    Quilters Using Their Talent to Help Others.
    Proceeds will benefit the Food Bank, Humane Society,
    Battered Women’s Shelter, and Seedbank for Haiti.

    Over 85 quilts being auctioned.

  • Blueberry Jam Dinner Concert - September 20, 2009 - The Sanctuary Pavilion on Blueberry Lake in Warren, Vt.

    On Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 3 - 7:30- pm at The Sanctuary Pavilion on Blueberry Lake in Warren,Vt.
    Blueberry Jam Dinner Concert to benefit the Vt Chapter NOCC National Ovarian Cancer Coalition www.ovarian.org

    The Vermont Chapter of the NOCC will host “Blueberry Jam” a special afternoon of Live Music, Local Food Buffet and a Silent Auction all to help with the NOCC’s mission of Ovarian Cancer Awareness and Education. Most women are not aware they are not being tested during an annual exam. Ovarian Cancer is very deadly.

    4 bands perform from 3 pm on. Debuting a funky ska style is Warren’s Big Hand Band, Dubnotix is an environmentally charged Reggae band from Vt, Elephant Revival is a 5 piece original Gypsy String Band from Boulder, Colorado with stellar vocals. Boston’s Spiritual Rez is a high energy Funky Reggae Dance Band, a horn section & congas add to a fun, memorable performance every time.

    There will be a local Food dinner buffet complete with American Flatbread, Organic Harvest Salad, Red Hen Bread, Pasta Primavera Apple, Blueberry Cobbler and Ben and Jerry’s Vanilla Ice cream. Hot Apple Cider and Green Mountain Coffee will also be served.

    A silent Auction that includes 3 days 2 nights at A Sanctuary on Blueberry Lake worth $ 1,500, Gift Certificates from local businesses, a brand new kids bike and more all to benefit The NOCC during September, Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.

    A Beautiful Lakefront covered Pavilion, Incredible Live Music, Amazing Local food, and a silent Auction make for a wonderful afternoon not to be missed.

    Suggested donation is $10-20.Kids are free and students are only $ 5.

  • August 20, 2009 - The Lareau Farm 4th Annual Corn Roast and Community Dance

  • The Lareau Farm, home of American Flatbread, gave us their annual slot for a Valley benefit on August 20, 2009. This is the 4th Annual Corn Roast and Community Dance held during the Festival of the Arts. MRNA was the beneficiary of this 4th Annual community event.

 

There was live music and dancing to Tammy Fletcher is Mountain Girl, flatbread, roasted corn and ice cream.
The winner of our BERMUDA DREAM TRIP FOR 2 - RAFFLE is Peter Lucier from MA.

  • NEGEF’s Fall 2008 Grassroots Retreat - October 10th and 11th

    Alright, put down your shovel and gardening gloves, grab a glass of lemonade, and take a moment to get excited about NEGEF’s Fall Grassroots Retreat!

    When: Friday, October 10 – Saturday, Oct 11th
    Where: University of Mass / Amherst
    What:This year’s event features three daylong workshops geared towards grassroots needs:

    1. Grassroots Fundraising, led by Andy Robinson (Co-author of Grassroots Grants: An Activist’s Guide to Proposal Writing; and author of Selling Social Change (Without Selling Out): Earned Income Strategies for Non-Profits)
    2. Rockwood Art of Leadership, led by Jose Acevedo (back by popular demand!) of the Rockwood Leadership Program
    3. Community Organizing, led by Alyssa Schuren, Executive Director of the Toxics Action Center

    The $45 registration fee covers one of these three workshops, four delicious meals with local ingredients, and one night at the Campus Center Hotel. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we get more details and plans in place.

    Moretown to Middlesex Rt. 100B

    Mad River Byway

    A GREAT time was had by all at our FIRST ANNUAL BYWAY CELEBRATION.
    The raffle raised $128.00 for future 100B Byway events. Thanks for your support!

    This map shows the trails and land behind the Moretown Elementary School. The recent vote to sell the development rights for the deer yard easement passed 122 to 62 on May 22, 2007. This sale ensures the protection of this valuable deer yard and supports the ongoing management of this land for recreational and educational use.

  • October 9, 2004 - Barn Dance

  • Green Up Day, May 1, 2004 - A group of MRNA folks participated in Green Up Day this May. We filled 2 pickup trucks, a few station wagons and some cars with trash collected in the Village, Jones Brook and Stevens Brook areas of Moretown. We collected over 30 bags of trash, discarded tires and scrap metal. We even found a Montpelier parking meter with its cash box removed! An intact jar of pickled carrots was found and saved as the most unique find. Just who would want to throw away pickled carrots?!! After drop off to the dump, we enjoyed a delicious potluck cookout.

    Special THANKS go out to Mike Dimotsis for coordinating our efforts and to Pat Cox and Scott Sainsbury for opening their home for our pre-collection gathering and post-collection celebration.
