Welcome to the Mad River Neighborhoods

We are a group of concerned citizens dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhoods along the Mad River in Vermont. The Mad River flows through neighborhood communities of pristine scenic beauty and charm.

Extending along the peaceful runs and riffles of the lower Mad River -- from the village of Moretown, to the Winooski River and up to the inspiring views of the high peaks seen from the hillsides that nestle the river -- the community is homes, farms, stables, woods, pastures, trails, hills and cliffs.

It is enjoyed by walkers, runners, skiers, bikers, swimmers, sunbathers, hikers, snow-shoers, fly-fishermen, horseback riders, hunters and canoeists. It is home to deer, moose, bear, beaver, fisher cat, fox, turkey, rainbow trout and myriad other inhabitants. Sightings of bald eagles are increasing.

This community offers a warm, welcoming scenic embrace to visitors who come to vacation and recreate in Moretown and higher up in the Mad River Valley communities of Waitsfield, Warren and Fayston. The lower Mad River is truly the “Scenic Gateway to the Mad River Valley”.

The Moretown Town plan speaks volumes when it says, “The drive along the length of Route 100B is among the most beautiful in Vermont. The meandering river, broad flood plains, rolling hills and deep gorges combine to create a stunning landscape”.

Fall riding on 100BLike most special places, the lower Mad River community is as beautiful and rare as it is because of the stewardship of those who care for it most -- its residents.

Those who came before us left a legacy of a land well cared for and deeply appreciated. Those who will follow depend on us to provide the same. That is where the Mad River Neighborhood Association, MRNA, comes in.
